Pat Chilton is the Chief Executive Officer of Five Nations Energy Inc., Canada’s only 100% Indigenous owned transmission company that provides safe, reliable electrical service and fibre to three remote communities along the western shores of James Bay.  Pat has over 50 years of progressively responsible experience in management.  With his combination of skills and experience, Pat successfully led many First Nations organizations through start-up, survival, turnaround and growth modes, leaving behind a path to sustainability.  

Pat’s management career started at the age of 18 at the Moose Factory Board of Education, after which he moved to work for the Federal Government at senior levels, including the position of Regional Director of Indian and Inuit Affairs in the NWT.  As the founding Executive Director of the Mushkegowuk Tribal Council, he was responsible for start up of the Council which included the eventual transfer of programs to the member First Nations. 

Pat’s varied career has included a number of senior positions in the Health Services sector, including as the founding CEO for the Weeneebayko Health Ahtuskaywin, and the founding CEO for the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority.  Pat has been acknowledged for his dedication to improving First Nations health services with the Deputy Minister’s Award for Excellence from Health Canada in 2008, and the Assistant Deputy Minister’s Recognition Award in 2007, from the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch for Health Canada.

Over the years Pat has also participated on a wide variety of Boards and Committees, where he has gained a significant amount knowledge and understanding in the issues facing First Nations.  Pat also served on the Boards of Coral Rapids Power, and the Western James Bay Telecommunications Network.

Pat and his wife Audrey, recently celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary.  They reside in Timmins and have 9 grand children. Pat is member of the Cree Nation in Northeastern Ontario.
